Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a liaison with project engineering, manufacturing and the customer regarding the implementation of programs, both molding and secondary operations
  • Lead effort for developing concept and specifications for secondary equipment. 
  • Manage design and build, as well as installation, debug and production start-up
  • Provide technical support/solutions to manufacturing processes, manage to established yield and throughput, and drive for cost reduction and optimal quality
  • Coordinate, direct and lead engineering efforts to ensure optimum engineering of projects/programs to meet customer and manufacturing requirements
  • Interface with customers on a regular basis to resolve issues
  • Facilitate communication between customer, sales, engineering functions, outside vendors, manufacturing and multi-divisional groups
  • Maintain cost control and profitability through interaction with the accounting group, sales and our customers
  • Implement technical solutions to meet customer and Phillips-Medisize cost, quality, and delivery expectations
  • Facilitate and support facility and manufacturing safety, environmental and ergonomics efforts
  • Create and monitor project timelines
  • Some programs may have vision requirements

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • B.S. degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Plastics, Mechanical or related) or equiv.
  • Directly related internship, co-op or other experience preferably with experience in injection molding; ideally in medical manufacturing.

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Understanding of injection molding, tooling, materials, part design, and affiliated processes; to include secondary operations and automation
  • Ability to manage small projects/programs with limited assistance from others
  • Understanding of computer tools and systems
  • Ability to learn communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of the key processes and systems of the position
  • Ability to meet timelines
  • Ability to understand and work towards financial goals
